The evolving geo-strategic environment is rapidly reshaping the security environment. For Australia, innovation is vital to defending sovereignty and maintaining strategic advantage. Reflecting this strategic reality, the Royal Australian Air Force’s ‘Jericho Disruptive Innovation’ (JDI) engaged House of Kitch to develop clear positioning and messaging for its programs and ‘Air Force Innovation’ more broadly. This involved collaborating with the JDI team and others in the Air Force Innovation ecosystem to bring their vision, mission and programs to life - showcasing a modern innovation ecosystem that advances technology to capability at speed, aligned with the National Defence Strategy. 2025 also marked the 10-year anniversary for JDI, creating a unique opportunity to communicate JDI’s past achievements, present priorities and future ambitions.
These efforts culminated in the delivery of a full-spectrum creative solution to bring these communications to life at the 2025 Avalon International Airshow: from exhibit concept, design, and production through to custom interactive digital content platforms, content creation, and on-the-ground support. Central to the storytelling was the celebration of ‘10 Years of Jericho’ - highlighting a decade of disruptive innovation, experimentation, and forward-thinking leadership.
Designing a Future-Focused Experience
The Air Force Innovation exhibit was built around four key pillars: Teaming to Win, Rapid Capability Development, Digital Enhancement, and Bottom-Up Innovation. Each area was given distinct visual cues, using bold neon colour palettes and futuristic iconography to create an energetic and immersive environment that captured attention and encouraged deeper exploration.

The digital content was styled with a ‘heads-up display’ interface, familiar to many attendees from gaming and sci-fi culture, offering an intuitive and engaging user experience. Visitors could explore interactive case studies and physical prototypes - including the ARCADE and ALADDIN drones - and walk through a detailed timeline showcasing the evolution of JDI over the past decade.

A particular highlight was the ‘Blue Sky Zone’ - a dedicated space designed to encourage ‘blue-sky thinking’ through inspirational quotes, open layout design, and a welcoming atmosphere. More than one hundred ad hoc meetings and international engagements took place here, cementing the space as a catalyst for professional networking and creative collaboration.
House of Kitch also developed graphically designed supporting materials to enhance the face-to-face engagements, including a fold-out brochure and a playful sticker sheet.

Our agile, multi-disciplinary approach delivered a solution that brought technical topics to life through compelling creative storytelling.
